A Splash of Color

Fall is a season of color so I expect that.  What can surprise me is flowers in late October.  We visited our zoo again and it started out pretty bland

I hope when I'm surprised I don't look like this guy
Moving along things got more colorful
Who doesn't like to see colorful fall season berries?
Next the flowers began to make themselves known
Near the front of the zoo and this fountain lies the flower garden
I know weddings are sometimes held here
But usually I don't spend much time checking this area out
There was light rainfal but it didn't dampen our spirits
I'm glad we checked it out
It was very hopeful and beautiful
Sometimes you go to see beauty...sometimes you bring it with you

Just Leaf It

Fall has arrived
What was a whisper...a hint is now a shout
Many leaves have now fallen since I took these pictures
It's in the fifties mostly now and daylight savings will soon end
Green, my favorite color is nearly gone now
I like the colors of this season...not the changeable weather and fading light
I know what's too follow too and that doesn't fill me with much excitement
Maybe I'm alone in this feeling
but I prefer the hope of spring to the fading glories of fall
It's gotten quieter now with most birds leaving and insects gone
I found a lone puffball dandelion
Who knows where it's seeds will fall

Odds 'n Ends

Fall has brought some beautiful sunsets lately
Sometimes I look at skies like this and wonder if it could be real
It's quieter lately.  Birds seem to have gone to greener pastures.  The cicadas no longer make their distinct noise.  The pond frogs have packed it in.  Even our Garder Snake visitor hasn't been around
'Tis the winding down of another season.

A Walk in the Park

We've been having some nice weather.  Nice weather often demands a trip to the park
Geese and ducks had the same idea
They felt it was a fine day for a swim
I certainly didn't swim but I did soak in the view
It was perfect walking weather too
Sometimes summer just doesn't want to let go
I don't mind since in these parts winter is often stubborn and encroaches upon spring's time
I think the foliage has a rather washed out appearance
This speaks of fall
It might be warm but it still feels like fall
We all know the seasons march right along
There's nothing to do but appreciate each season
Enjoy the day while you can
Tomorrow may not be so nice
Seasons weather us all some
But there's grace to help us through everything
Seasons may close parks but they don't have to close your heart

Into Every Life a Little Rain Must Fall

It's acting more life fall today.  Cooler with some rain.  Some critters love it...like this tiny frog
The plants love it too
It may look gloomy but it's necessary and unavoidable
The cicadas quiet down when it's cooler...here's one who didn't get the memo...look closely
Spider's traps are much more visable
But I think they're fat enough anyway
Golden Orb Weavers have endless energy to make web
When their labor is through they just sit and wait
The sun sometimes struggles...we didn't even see it today
It's really spider season
They help keep the wasps in check at least
Hang in their before long it will be a brighter day
