Enter Sunlight

This is the continuation of my Bear Tooth and Sunlight series that I started last week.  It’s a different world up in the higher elevations.  It’s been so hot and dry down here but up there though I know it’s drier than usual it’s got somewhat cooler temperatures and a bit more moisture then we have down here.  One thing in particular that I enjoy seeing is snow capped peaks.  I enjoyed being near mountain streams as opposed to the irrigation ditches near our house.  I love the old devices you can find that speak of history past.  It may be cooler and a bit wetter up here but it’s certainly not anything like it was last year when the flood conditions were everywhere.  We love to go out from the cabin and explore the windy mountain roads to see what we can see.  One day we found this spectacular bridge.  The view from each side was dizzying but spectacular.  Go a few miles down the road and the scenery changes dramatically changes…new peaks but the same sky.  These sheer cliff walls dropped down to a very rapid stream below.  Beyond the cliff walls and land slides things open to a beautiful valley.  Let me tell you from where I stood this view could easily give you vertigo.  The mountains here are younger than the ones in the eastern United States however I have to wonder just how many years it took this stream to cut through the rock here.  I could almost read my Dad’s mind thinking how he could make his way down the cliffs to try the fishing in this stream.  Our day continued to take us to higher and higher elevations with views that blew my mind.  I kept thinking that it couldn’t get any better but it just did with each footstep…that however you’ll have to see next time!  Bless you all, I pray you have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

    1. I see summer slipping by. I can't say I'll miss the heat but I have to say I don't like the big increase in stuff I have to do come fall and winter...vacation will be way over for me. I already feel kind of wistful looking at these pictures.

  4. The green evergreens create an illusion of moisture yet they go snap crackle so fast when a flame hits them.

There is a unique beauty in the mountains.

    1. You're quite right John, our campfires had pine cones that snapped and popped soon after a spark touched them...I hope this doesn't happen in the forest there.

  6. The West is so beautiful. It would be interesting to know how long it took the stream to get there and from where it started. Love all the photos. I'm looking forward to cooler weather.
