That’s just what this is today. No leaves left…no snow to speak of…it ain’t pretty out there. What should I do? Well, I have been wanting to take some pictures of some bottles we bought for Lovely. We found them at the candy store of all places. You might be thinking they would have suited an October post better. You’re probably right but seeing as how my options are limited I’ll show case these now. The labels on these things are priceless. Ever heard of snake oil? How about love potion #9 or the elixir of life? Yeah, we’ve got ‘em all! Never mind they’re empty. Closer examination of these labels makes me glad they came to us empty! These things are priceless! Dragon blood? Who knew it existed! LOL! Eye of newt…you mean it’s real? Too bad this was empty…maybe I’d still look like I was only 21! Yep, a close up of good ‘ol love potion #9…perhaps this is why I was able to marry a girl the caliber of my wife!
A fascinating collection here, Joe.
ReplyDeleteI'd never seen anything like these before. Not only interesting labels but interesting shapes for the bottles.
DeleteA very interesting collection of bottles Joe. I remember going to the carnival when I was a very young girl about 100 years ago. There was a pitchman hawking this wonderful potion that would cure everything for only $1. Of course it was mostly alcohol. l.
DeleteI've seen old Westerns with carpet baggers doing that but I've never seen it in real life! Wasn't whiskey known as "grandpa's old cough medicine"?
DeleteWell
ReplyDeleteI looked here, still no short post..... just a fence post, not even short..... cool bottles
Bwahahahaha! I finally got it John!
DeleteI love these. I love the "Eye Newt" one.
ReplyDeleteAren't these a kick Kieth? I'd never seen these anywhere else.
DeleteReally interesting bottles. I remember Lovely has a cool nut cracker collection. I wonder what she will fill these bottles with lol.
ReplyDeleteWe got a few more nutcrackers this year actually...it won't be long now until they make their annual appearance once again. These bottles...I may not want to know what they'd be filled with in reality!
DeleteA very nice collection Joe. I ve been looking at glass to put flowers in but not any expensive and having a hard time. Lovely post. Praying for all overseas with the F5 storm. I know you have relations there and friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa...as of yet there's no companion to these bottles...there may never be...the labels are somewhat fragile. Thanks for your prayers...as far as I know family is safe...we can only wait and see.
