It seems fitting to finish the Florida series with a great place like this. The natural walking areas are a real treat to use. The only areas we have even remotely like this in Montana are in Yellowstone. I love the wooden walk ways. We kept our eyes open for alligators because this would be our last chance to see one in the wild. Finally a very young one approached where we were. Word had it the mother had some young so we were pretty excited. Meanwhile we enjoyed the birds that were everywhere. Then quite literally we looked down and saw the mother of all reptiles in the place. She was quite large and semi-hidden by the plants but still she was quite visible. She hardly moved at all but we knew she was very much alive. We started heading back and I saw this amazing skink. Also there was a marsh hare…so different from our cottontails around here. With a final look back we headed back to the car. Next was our final beach picnic. I miss panoramas like this one. The birdlife is something I miss too…don’t you love those long legs. I miss the palm trees and beachfront properties, the palm lined sidewalks, the ocean…but most of all I’ll miss our family. Good bye Florida…we hope to see it all again soon.
Hi Joe, I love all these photos! I love the long legged birds as well. They seem to stand like statues. Lovely music to accompany your photos.
ReplyDeleteGreetings my friend. I'm so glad you enjoyed the pictures today. I have a random selection of music...not all of the songs will appeal to everyone but I'm having fun changing it up. Thank you for stopping by.
DeleteOh my goodness I wish I had visited this place when I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago! I love that picture of the alligator.
ReplyDeleteI think it was sort of an unsung song. We hadn't heard of it either...a friend of our family did and invited us or we'd have totally missed this little gem. Well, there's always next time Keith...you know we all need a next time in Florida!
Deletethat is right.. you went on vacation to Florida.. I had forgotten.. what a beautiful place to be.. it does tug at ones heart for sure.. so much there.. a totally different life style.. lived there once.. many moons ago.. still miss it..
ReplyDeleteYour comments are coming through loud and clear Hope...I have it set to be approved first though. I didn't know you lived in Florida! It is beautiful isn't it?
Deleteyes.. when lots younger.. lived on a house boat.. each morning a dolphin would come in the marina and wake us up..when first moved there.. i was amazed.. over whelmed and totally in love.. with the place.. but still \ nothing really compares to the safety and majesty our mountains holds..
ReplyDeleteI can't argue with you there...though I'm not a fan of our winters.

Good to treasure things like this for sure. We are not there physically anymore but the memories remain. Blessings to you my friend.
DeleteI was in Florida in 2004 on our motorhome tour. We had finally spent a few nights at a time here instead of driving and only stopping one night. I was so amazed by all the wildlife and I so loved the marshes and jungle looking areas. Most of my trip is a blurr, so would really like to revisit one day. Thanks for sharing your wonderful trip and reminding me of so many of the beautiful sites found there in Florida.
ReplyDeleteA revisit would be nice...such states are hard to forget!
