The Heat Is On

This has been one of the hottest weeks I can remember.  There’s a new water park that the kids went to and seemed to really enjoy.  I was disgusted to see all the places with large umbrellas were reserved leaving me with a dwindling shadowed spot on the concrete to sit on.  The crowd seemed to really like the water slide but Gabby wouldn’t have any of it.  Finally as my shadow dwindled completely it was time to leave.  I noticed this door on the building as we left.  I expect it’s talking about chlorine but wow, what the heck are they putting in the water?  Getting home it was still so hot but that didn’t stop me from going out to watch the sun set.  I happen to really love what I call a cotton candy sky.  Other times the evening’s offer is more what I’d call a silhouette special and I like that too.  Another style I love in sunsets is the ray effect (like my technical terms?). Looking at skies like this makes me feel a sense of peace .  I know I’ve mentioned that before but I can’t say it enough.  The biggest even we had this week was anything but peaceful.  Looking out on my favorite view I saw what I knew wasn’t a cloud…a massive fire forced many evacuations and left a horrible mess for many families.  Not surprising to see this considering that it’s been in the hundreds for several days and this with a red flag warning and high winds it was a recipe for disaster.  It makes me have all the more compassion for those in Colorado.  That said it’s good to appreciate what we have and pray for those that are struggling.  God bless and keep you.

  2. Stunning sunset photos Joe. We do have so much to be thankful for and when you see the burning wildfires , and hear of so many other disasters around the world it sure does help one put things into perspective.
    Take care Joe.

  3. Great shots Joe..nice the kids have a place to go..here the park has a pond and that is about all the space they get. It never has any chemicals in it so not sure what exactly they really are dealing with. At least it was cool and packed yesterday as we hit 99-100. Boy July is coming in with a bang around here. I feel so for the firefighters in this heat and with the people who have lost everything they own, wondering what all those will do to relocate now.
Whispy clouds are always nice to look at,,they paint a wonderful picture in God's sky, Be well,

    1. Time does fly. Frankly now that I've got one daughter graduating next year I'm not as happy to see time fly as I was when I was younger. Blessings to you my friend.

  4. Hi Joe,

Lovely sunset pictures. The heat certainly is on, even here, it was very hot, by our standards for a few days, cooler today, but still humid. That however pales into insignificance when you see the pictures of Colorado

Have a Blessed Weekend - Nita

    1. I think fireworks are pretty much banned here for the holidays too, the kids are kind of disappointed about that however God always makes a way. Bless you my friend.

  5. We are in a tinder box too. Temp is 107 today and will be the next three at least.

So far no fires but with dummy's insisting on their illegal "right" to fire works, that is debatable when then 4thnof July comes.

    Pictures are lovely as always.

    1. You've got us beaten in heat by some degrees...that's just miserable Carole. I don't feel like challenging the firework ban at all though likely some will. Word has it there may not even be a big show at night which saddens me but I'd rather not have it then see any disaster happen for sure. Bless you, thanks for your graciousness about my photos...I'm Mr. point and shoot you know.

    1. Half a world apart yet the same view, how cool is that? I have been caught without a camera before in situations like that, I really hate that.
