Left Overs From The Hunger Games

Last night my family and I saw The Hunger Games midnight release.  It was a lot of fun though for us all to go we had to save up some…food alone…ugh, the prices.  We’ve really enjoyed the books and it’s been fun to go to the show after that…sort of the icing on the cake.  I thought all in all they did a good job adapting the story to the big screen…it’s quite a dark show though, make no mistake and the books…darker still.  I knew after reading the last book I really wanted to see the show.  Closing the back cover left me excited for what it would be like in the theater.  If you’ve not read it I recommend it…three books…all worth the read.

Okay, there’s The Hunger Games…where do the left overs come in?  Well, since I had limited time yesterday I kept some photos and waited until today to post.  The weather is really amazing right now.  The skies are beautiful, the buds are beginning to show themselves and the sun has that warmth showing through that I’ve so longed for.  The greens of spring have been quite slow to show but it is slowly making itself known.  I love when the buds just start popping wide open…as of today these are much more open then in this photo.  I’m ready for the bleak scene in our backyard to green up, I have to tell you…just look at the dead leaf remnants in our rocks.  The house finches are so pretty to see.  I heard some chirping and looked up to see this handsome little fellow.  It won’t be long and I’ll be in this spot taking pictures of the storms that roll by on the plains in the spring.  This little ironwork bird is sitting and waiting for the warmer days to come…I can hardly wait!  The dead leaves in the rocks will give way to our potted garden.  This year we’ve got everything from egg plants to Asian peppers…it will be beautiful and tasty!  This is the beginning of every walk I take around here…care to join me?

  1. I saw a trailer of that movie and didn't think it was for me. Love your photos. I know Lovely will have a wonderful garden... as you had said you have a black thumb ;-)

    1. You may be surprised me friend, I try not to judge a movie or book by it's trailer or cover you know? Yes, Lovely is the green thumb of the family, I keep hoping that will rub off!

    1. Thank you for your compliments Beth, you're most welcome on the prayer. I only know a few friends from on-line that have read these books. If you do decide to check them out I hope you enjoy them.

I guess Im like you a texture nut. :) and a good way to be.
We have snow and lots of it. I sat outside yesterday with my camera as the birds came into the feeder. Good or bad I will post them. It was wonderful and peaceful as is your blog once again.

    1. I don't mind about you not hearing of the series..I hadn't heard a thing about it until after I'd gotten into it myself. It's an interesting series and as I said kind of dark but we all enjoyed reading it and seeing the show. It got cooler again for us over the last couple of days...it makes me long for somewhere warm...tropical would be good! I don't think you can take bad photos...at least not from what I've seen! Have a great day!

  6. My daughter Danielle just saw the movie yesterday and just loved it. She has the books so I guess I had better see if I can get in line to read them. Waiting lists at libraries and see no need to buy when she has them. Pictures are wonderful. I just love this weather. Spent so much time outside I've been neglecting my blog some. Really must get my act together. I have a laptop so no excuse for not taking it out with me and doing my thing.

    1. We've been passing the books around the family too, good to read the series before seeing the movies. It's an interesting set of books if you ask me. It's cooled down a lot again here so the draw to go out isn't quite as strong for me sadly...hope that soon changes.
