[….Spent….]

Fall can personify what I feel sometimes…that can be good or that can be a pretty melancholy thing.  I feel weary of several things right now, things that have gone on and on and seem to stubbornly persist beyond all prayer and reason.  Believe me when I say this isn’t something I say so I can get comments saying:  having done all stand or some such sentiment…I get that but I’m just expressing a battle weariness that comes to everyone at some point or another.  Going outside I find much of what I’m seeing tempered by the feelings I’m having.  Most things are on their last hurrah now as we enter deeper and deeper into the fall season .  Green is giving way to yellow in many trees now…here in our state there’s not much red or orange.  I find that the seeds in particular draw my attention today.  The pods are mostly fully open like that last picture or they have finished delivering their cargo now.  I’m amazed at how the rule of the bright little yellow flowers has now quickly passedand the cat tails are now showing signs of decay.  The next thing I see is the effects of the relentless sun and dry weather we have on the cat tails……some are even completely white!  If you are not able to appreciate gold tones, browns and yellows you would not like fall in Montana.  Fortunately I’ve grown to love it!  It strikes me through all of this that for new life there’s got to be death somewhere…these adult plants are giving their life that they might release their finely packed seeds…with or without my help they are completely focused on this task right now.  Once that internal time frame comes there’s an explosive action that ejects these seeds.  White is a very prevalent color right now as everything has the same plan to release seeds .  I’m shocked to see the thistles that so marvelously stood out with their purple blossoms now completely faded at this point.  The sun has an amazing tone right now that gives the old familiar sights a new interest point to me.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen these cat tails do this before…at least not so quickly in the season.  Looking at the stunted and mummified cockle bur type planet I felt pretty smug…at least I wouldn’t have to pull these darn things off my pants and socks before going back inside!  Speaking of which it was time to head back so with a glance or twobehind me I began to head back to the house…taking in the bright golden tinged sunlight.  Entering my yard I noticed one of the little seeds and was amazed that it had found it’s way there.  Yes, many things seem to be getting old, yes this is a season of transition but always life finds a way to triumph and I still find great encouragement in that!

  2. your northwest landscape sure is different then in the southeast, that is for sure. fall seems to have arrived some days, and others feels like summer is returning, thus how my moods have been as well, every changing by the day,,wish it would find a happy medium and stay at that for awhile.I suppose in 40 days, you should be feeling a bit more confidant and content !! I hope i will as well !

    1. I've told you before just how much you've helped me through dark places. I don't often have people that can really discuss the shape the world is in without having to be very careful indeed. I remain grateful to you my friend. May the miracle many of us believe for happen soon.

  6. What a wonderful pictorial of the changes of life. Colors in place here are looking pretty good. I hope the Big Hills across the river from us burst with better colors this year. Last year they were kind of drab.

    1. Sometimes when it's too dry or the frosts start showing up early the colors can be pretty boring. We've been fortunate that it's been cool but no frosts yet.

  7. Your pictures are always a joy to view. Think many of us can relate to the battle weariness. I know I can.

I have just been reading Hebrews chapters on Faith and Romans on endurance, comforting stuff.

God Bless you and your family, have a good weekend.

I feel blessed to see alot of reds , yellow and oranges on our trees with the odd little chick a dee look for food for the coming winter. Gessh not far off so enjoy and lets all get out while we can. So your struggling like so many of us in one way or another.. that is what makes us who we are and build so much strength in faith and character. 1. Troubles do have a way to making the building we're meant to be eventually but I don't find that process much more enjoyable than anyone else...thus these little excursions to see God's creation are all the more precious. Nature itself experiences changes and has found ways to deal with it in such a way that it speaks to me (and I know you) ever time I find myself out taking pictures of it. Blessings my friend, have a great weekend as well.

  9. How I loved the photos. I always do and this time was more special to me as I am always and ever noticing minute things in nature. I appreciate the blessings of each and every season too, with its special gifts just for its time.

I love what RedWillow said above my comment. And your answer. We are three of a kind.

    1. Sometimes the change in the wind feels so immense to me that the quiet of today seems like the calm before a huge storm however we are in the hands of the One who created all things. We get a big cool down next week, ready or not it's on the way. Before long the pictures are going to have a lot of white in them I think. Bless you Carole, it's great to hear from you.

  10. Hi Joe, I have to say I enjoyed all of your photos from your perspective. I especially love the ones with the seeds. I believe it is milkweed. The food of the Monarch Butterfly. :) I love the earth tones in your pictures also. Each color is Beautiful in its own way, whether it be whites, browns and golds, or red, oranges,a and yellows. Yes, I love the vivid colors of Autumn and as Lisa said, we are Blessed with the reds, oranges and yellows. Montana is so Beautiful, and God has a way of Balancing out the Beauty and colors no matter where we live. I enjoy being out and experiencing God's creation, and I enjoy the Beauty you share, along with other fellow bloggers.
I love your view and I really like the song that was playing by Rob Thomas. It seemed so fitting as we go through this transition of the change of Seasons. I will admit I am always sad to see my good friend "Summer" pass away until we see her again. I also experience feelings as the days get shorter, and the weather turns colder. I love the warm part of Autumn and the Beauty as the leaves change colors. We don't have much color so far this year. I would of loved to have gone to Algonquin Park again this year as it is now at its Peak with vivid colors, but it turns out the weather was not that good with cloud and rain. I did have a good day though, and enjoyed doing some reading. I guess when the cold winter gets here I will catch up on reading some good books by the fireplace. That I will enjoy.
Well it seems it is feast or famine with me. Either I talk your ear off or it is awhile before I make it back around to see your Beautiful Blog. Hey, I guess that is another thing I will be able to spend more time visiting and reading blogs this winter. I only hope and pray my mom can stay free of the colds and flu's which are such a danger for her this time of year. She has had a good summer, and is able to have her dialysis 3 times a week right here in Belleville. I is only a 10 min. drive verses the 2 hr. drive to and from Kingston.
Well you take care Joe and thank you for all you share. Hope this isn't too long. You are in my thoughts and prayer dear Brother in the Lord. Sincerely, Dianne :)

  12. I love all your captures of the seeds. We have a huge thistle problem now in our fields. Due to such a dry season this year everything went to full seed. They are so evasive. It wonderful to see them in the light of beauty. I really love the cattails you have just out your back door. I have planted seeds here hoping they would grow, but haven't. May only seeds of hope grow in your gardens mind.

    1. I found out those seeds are from a trouble plant here called Milk weed, farmer's hate the stuff I guess..I had no idea...goes to show what a botanist I am! This was not a good year for anything I planted...the drought really didn't help.

  13. Life can be so simple and yet complicated at the same time. I enjoyed your pictures and have to agree that sometimes, amazing as it is, that things around us can reflect our feelings. It makes one wonder though if we see things the way we do because of how we feel or is it mere coincidence?
